Lightweight funding for your FOSS project - brought to you by Prototype Fund
Joram Schwartzmann joram@prototypefund.de

The Prototype Fund is a funding program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research that is managed and evaluated by the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany. Individuals and small teams can receive funding in order to test their ideas and develop FOSS applications in the areas of Civic Tech, Data Literacy, IT Security and Software Infrastructure.

You are an open-source developer with a brillant idea but no time or funds to turn it into actual code? Apply at Prototype Fund for a chance to receive up to € 47,500 in funding, coaching and advide! Over the last years Prototype Fund has already funded some great Nextcloud projects and we'd love to continue doing that. In this session we'll explain to you how to apply - and why it's a good idea!

There are only very few conditions for funding: you have to be at least 18 years old, live and pay taxes in Germany, publish your project under a FOSS license - and make sure you can realistically build it in a 6-months period.

We're open to a great variety of ideas, be it in the area of software infrastructure, hosting, security or accessibility! In the lightning talk we'll show you all kinds of projects we have funded. So, if you don't have an idea for a project yet, you might just find inspiration here.
